Animated Dialogues 2007 Conference

Leading animation experts from around Australia and abroad gathered at the Monash University Berwick campus this week to attend the Animated Dialogues 2007 Conference.

Monash University organised the three-day conference in affiliation with the Society of Animation Studies and the Victorian College of the Arts and secured Professor Paul Wells, Director of Animation, School of Art and Design from the Loughborough University in the United Kingdom as its keynote speaker.

Esteemed Australian animator, Antoinette Starkiewicz attended the conference as a special guest.

“We were extremely proud that Monash Berwick was the venue for such an important event for Australian animators,” said event co-organiser Dr Marian Quigley.

“The conference brought together experts and enthusiasts from a range of universities to discuss a plethora of interesting issues relating to the world of animation.”

Speakers at the conference also included local academics from the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University’s Berwick campus.

“Monash University Berwick is home to some brilliant researchers in the information technology field. This conference allowed them to share their findings with their peers and highlighted their contribution to the animation industry.”

“The Animated Dialogues 2007 Conference more than met our expectations and we look forward to the next time that Australian and international animation scholars can gather together again to discuss our research.”

Lads and Dads is the major initiative of the Work Life Unit in 2007.

This pilot program is aimed at all male staff with parental or carer
responsibilities, not just those with sons.

The second half of the year will see a number of  programs for men conducted on a number of different campuses.

The first is "Staying Connected" for fathers not living full-time with
their children. Please download this flier for further information.

The two programs will be:
26 July Berwick
11 September Clayton

Staff wishing to attend need to email Judith Cooke with their details and dietary requirements by 6 July.
