EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TRAINING
The Equity and Diversity Centre is providing the following training at Berwick:
What: Equal Opportunity: What you need to know?
When: Wednesday 31 August, from 10am - 1:00 pm
Where: Tutorial Room 1140
Aims: To inform staff and students of their rights and responsibilities under Australian equal opportunity legislation and to explain the University's policies and procedures. The implications for Monash of the Disability Discrimination Act will be explored in detail.
Outcomes: For participants to understand the complex nature of equal opportunity issues, how discrimination, sexual harassment and vilification may be experienced and how best to respond when difficulties arise. The need for confidentiality, the importance of ensuring natural justice and the challenges of dealing with conflict will be specific foci of the training.

FORMER BERWICK STUDENTS SHINE
Former Monash University Berwick students Sarah Ewen has won the Charles Sturt Foundation scholarship for her academic achievements and contributions to the community.
AROUND THE BAY IN DAY
In 2004, more than 100 cyclists represented Monash University and helped raise money for the Smith Family. This year Monash Sport expects an even bigger team to participate in the “Around the Bay in Day” ride on Sunday 16 October.
New for 2005 is a 50 Kilometre option as well as the more challenging 100 or 200 + kilometre rides.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Congratulations to Ms Kerrie Cake!
Kerrie is one among the three Monash staff members who have been awarded career development scholarships to enhance their career prospects. The scholarships were awarded by deputy vice-chancellor (Resources) Mrs Alison Crook last week.They are available to Monash general staff, up to and including HEW level 5, who want to gain a qualification that will enhance their career prospects within the university.
Kerrie Cake, administration assistant with the Department of Management at the Berwick campus, is studying for a Diploma of Business Administration with Chisholm Institute of TAFE. |
