Faculty of Information Technology : Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems

Why study information technology?

Information and communications technology (ICT, also know as IT) is growing in importance and is influencing almost every aspect of our lives.

Today's employers are looking for graduates with high technical skills who can also communicate effectively with client and work in teams.

While some careers in IT have high levels of involvement with computing and communications technologies, there are also many careers that are more business and people orientated.

Even if you are still deciding on a particular profession, information technology studies can prepare you for many other career paths, as well as the traditional computing ones.  Combining IT knowledge with business studies can lead you to an exciting career that brings together information technology and management.

What is multimedia?

Multimedia is one of the most innovative and fast-growing areas of information technology and design, providing real career opportunities.  A career path in education, graphic design, publishing, marketing, business or the entertainment sector could be yours.

Multimedia combines different media - images, film, sound, words and animation - into an interactive package that presents information in a variety of forms, and allows people to use it in a way that best suits them.

Multimedia systems include websites, information booths, education software, games and advertising services.
